All of our Bloodhounds are AKC registered, and all come with AKC puppy papers marked limited, unless you have made arrangements to buy your puppy with full unlimited AKC breeding and show rights. Prices on bloodhound puppies are $800 for black/tan babies, red or liver/tan babies with limited papers. Puppies sired by our DeVille with full show and breeding right papers will be $1500. We do reserve the right to limit papers on any puppy and we reserve the right to deny any sale. We are a dedicated bloodhound breeder with high standards for our puppys. We feel the homes they go to should have that in mind for the love and care of the new puppy we have entrusted to you.
Limited vs. Unlimited...
With limited papers you do not get the right to breed or show your puppy in all events in dog shows. You are expected to spay or neuter your pet if you have purchased it with limited papers. We feel the best age for spay/neuter should be done at 5 and 6 months. At 5 months on males and 6 months on a female, after you have had your puppy spayed/neutered we ask you send us a statement of spay/neuter from your vet with the puppies microchip # on it and at that time we will mail out the original AKC puppy papers for you to mail into AKC.
With unlimited papers you will recieve AKC puppy papers with full after you have registered the puppy's microchip with AKC Reunite and went into your vet with the puppy and had its first checkup visit. You can show your dog in all catagoires of the show ring events that you are allowed by AKC bylaws. Plus, you have the right to breed your dog when it matures to breeding age. We do not guarantee show status as not all dogs are show quality, nor can we guarantee them to breed at adulthood, but all are born with the inborn capability of giving undivided love!
Some people ask why we charge extra for the right to breed the dog you purchased from us. We want to know what your plans are for the babies we are intrusting to you. We also want to know how and where they will be living. We do not sell to pet stores, puppy mills, most kennels, or brokers! Some of our puppies are not available with full breeding rights, some are. If you are going to pay extra for unlimited breeding and show rights you probably have plans for your puppy and we want to know what those plans are.
Our puppies will be current on shots and dewormers. They come with their shot record, AKC puppy papers, AVID brand microchipped for lost pet tracking, guarantee, health certificate from our vet, and a baggie of food. We feel you must feed a good quality food to ensure good health. We feed Diamond Natural's large breed puppy, lamb and rice formula puppy food to our Bloodhound puppies. It has the added Omega 3 & 6 for development of the immune and nervous systems and it is fortified with Glucosamine and Chondroitin for good joint developement. We do not ship any puppy until it has reached 8 weeks of age and we feel the puppy is ready to ship.
If you find a puppy below you like, please call or email us with the puppy's name and birthdate. We will be able to tell you the availability of the puppy and when it will be ready to go to its new home. We do not breed our dogs every heat as that is too hard on the mom and we do not feel produces a good quality puppy. If you are looking for a specific color/sex etc... you can be put on our waiting list for the next available puppy.
Before you decide on a Bloodhound puppy, please keep in mind that Bloodhounds, at maturity, are a BIG dog. They will average 115-145 lbs for males and 90-100 lbs for females. They need a yard to play in and a fenced in yard is a must with them. Bloodhounds are amazing dogs, but do need to be trained with a job. If nothing else trained for obedience and to play fetch regularly. If you tie a bloodhound up be prepared for a wound up dog that needs to releave his agressions when you turn him loose, I do ask you dont tie your bloodhound puppy but contain him from the neighborhood in a fenced yard. Bloodhounds are active dogs and not the lazy hound portrayed in the movies. These are real life and real responsiblites you are taking on. They make good tracking dogs and are the only dog whose evidence is permissable in courts of law. Bloodhounds are versatile and active dogs. They make good pets, but they must have excercise. They can track, trail, and participate in obedience, agility and conformation in the show ring. The Bloodhound is not a breed that wants to please you as much as they want to be pleased. Their motto is, "what's in it for me?" When you adopt a Bloodhound, you are not owning a Bloodhound, you are being owned by one! If you are prepared for a dog that will drool on your floor, counter surf your cabinets and eat your supper because you left the plate sitting too close to the edge of the counter and then when you are ready to watch tv, you realized that your precious puppy who you love, has also chewed the remote to the TV to the point it no longer works. If you are prepared for this kind of puppy, then the bloodhound is for you.
